Benjamin J. Farkash

Attorney

Ben joined Ashburn & Mason as an associate attorney in 2021—his practice focuses on civil litigation. Prior to joining the firm, Ben clerked for the Honorable Dani Crosby on the Anchorage Superior Court for two years where he was active with the small claims mediation program and volunteered with the Anchorage Youth Court as a legal advisor in his spare time.

Prior to law school, Ben worked in woodshops in Hawai’i and Oregon making custom cabinets, including a year in Kaka’ako, O’ahu making custom furniture for hotels, professional offices, and homes.

Ben first came to Alaska for a summer internship in the civil division of the legal department of the Municipality of Anchorage. He returned for several winters to volunteer as a tax preparer in St. Mary’s, Mountain Village, and Quinhagak. In summer 2018, he interned with the Alaska Public Defender Agency in Palmer where he represented a client in a two-day jury trial and gained other valuable courtroom experience.

During law school, Ben clerked for the Federal Defenders in Eugene, Oregon for two years, and he externed for the Honorable Michael J. McShane of the United States District Court, District of Oregon. Ben had the opportunity to represent many clients through his work with the civil clinic, affiliated with Oregon Law Center, and he was a co-recipient of the Nicole Richardson Outstanding Pro Bono Service Award—he graduated law school with more than 300 pro bono hours, and he received the Dean Orlando John Hollis Scholar Award for Academic Excellence.
